The trash in the waterways isn't going to leap into the can by itself.  Nor is the pollution going to magically disappear.  It takes work and money to keep the focus on environmental stewardship.  Fortunately, many more folks are realizing the impact of not doing anything.  That's why we need your help.

Coastal Water Watch and its alliance partners, Cape Fear River Watch, Cape Fear Arch Conservation Collaborative, and the WATERKEEPER Alliance, are all commited to achieving practical solutions to improving water quality.

As noted before, the water quality monitoring programs, educational seminars, waterway cleanups, and lobbying local legislators are the foundation of an effective proactive program designed to keep water quality issues at the forefront of development standards and stormwater regulations.  We have already paid the price for neglect with tremendous impact to local shellfish nursery beds and loss of vital wetlands.

That's why we need your help.  The more voices, the more they pay attention to the message.  As dire as some water quality has become, it is not beyond repair.  Around the country, local grassroots organizations have pushed for stronger controls and won grants for remediation.  Water quality can be improved, even in much worse situations.  But it can't work without you - without your voice, without your effort, without your financial support.

Two for the price of one!  Membership in Coastal Water Watch includes membership in the Cape Fear River Watch, as well as discounts on many interesting outdoor activities and social events throughout the year.
